RLI seeks to provide quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills to Rotarians interested in developing their Rotary participation and to those identified by Rotary Clubs as having a potential in club leadership. These educational opportunities will teach skills that will benefit the members in their lives and in their volunteer service.

First Crew Disaster Relief Trip to New Bern, North Carolina 2019 Date: October 27 - November 2, 2019. Location: New Bern, North Carolina area Mission Partners: Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders located in North Carolina. We have partnered with Fuller Center for the past three mission trips to Louisiana and Houston and it has been well organized and highly successful. Type of worked involved: The work involves the refurbishment of homes which have been flooded by hurricane Florence in September 2019. All of the demolition has been completed for the homes in which we will be working. Typical tasks include drywall installation, flooring installation, taping and spackling of walls, and painting. All tools and supplies are provided by Fuller Center. A professional Fuller Center Project Manager oversees the project. NOTE: All levels of experience are welcome. Cost: Typical overall costs have been about $250/person in addition to transportation. Since it is within driving distance of West Chester, we will likely arrange car pools to reduce the cost of transportation. Any off site meals will be an extra cost. .We will work to raise funds to offset some costs for all volunteers. People who want to participate but cannot afford the expenses may be able to get additional financial assistance. Lodging and Meals: Fuller Center has partnered with local churches to provide housing and meals. This year, we will be lodging at Cornerstone Church. We typically arrange a First Crew dinner at a local restaurant on Wednesday evening. Transportation: New Bern, NC is about 450 miles from West Chester and approximately a 7 ½ hour drive via I95. If you choose to fly, First Crew will arrange transportation to Cornerstone Church. Transportation to and from the work site each day is arranged by First Crew. Other Travel Information: Teams often take Wednesday afternoon off to explore local sites in the city where we volunteer. Skills, expertise, tools and materials: All levels of experience and expertise are welcome and encouraged to participate. Typically, the team includes people with no experience and volunteers who have been on numerous mission trips. It is a great opportunity to learn new skills working side by side with a more experienced volunteer. Fuller Center supplies all tools and materials needed for the tasks. If you would like to volunteer for the New Bern Disaster Relief Trip or are just interested to learn more about the trip, please contact Jim Serum or Bob Curran as indicated below. New Bern is a popular volunteer area and we will need to make lodging reservations earlier than our typical timing.

This is a community event that gives back year after year, proudly donating $38,000 to local charities. 2019 beneficiaries include Nemours Center for Pediatric Cancer and Rare Blood Disease, The Kennett Area Food Cupboard and The Weekly Fight. All volunteers receive training, credit hours, loads of food, exclusive MCHM shirts, access to The Creamery Sponsored Post-Race Festival, age appropriate beverages, and good karma.

This film depicting the history of the polio eradication effort, from the founding series of piecemeal efforts in 1980 to the highly organized international efforts of today, shows the impact Rotary has had on lives around the world. The 300,000+ polio cases a year has been reduced to a handful in only 2 countries.
For every new polio case there averages 200 carriers who suffer no symptoms and likely will never develop polio. That means the person next to you on an international flight could infect you if they visited one of those two countries, or met with someone who has. So large scale vaccination efforts are required today even though only 2 countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan, have new infections. Viewing this film, which the producer will be attending, provides the money needed to vaccinate 225 children. Tickets are $45 and the cost will be matched 2 for 1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

The mission of the Avon Grove Education Foundation is to raise money to expand and enhance educational opportunities and create connections for the students in the Avon Grove School District. Funds raised provide grants to teachers for equipment and materials to support innovative school and classroom projects to enhance learning experiences.
Enjoy an evening of wine, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction for only $75 per person.
